For Maximum Adherence:

Double check your register material and make sure that it's steel --- not aluminum, plastic, painted, or wood.
The magnetic cover needs to cover the entire surface of the register face plate to adhere properly.

Before placing your magnet on the register, make sure the vent is closed so the air flow doesn't interfere with the adherence of the magnet.

Vents tend to have a small lever which allows you to open and close the vent, this lever could interfere with the adherence of the magnet,
so you may need to make a small cut to allow the lever to pass through in order to ensure the magnet is fully adhered to the register.

* A mil is a unit of measurement that is used to describe and specify the thickness of magnets and other materials. When shopping for magnets,
you will often see magnetic sheeting described in terms of mils. The bigger the mil, the thicker the magnet.
