The Q50a is a two-way closed box speaker that sits comfortably atop your existing. The speaker fires its sound upward, creating the vertical dimension programmed into any Dolby Atmos recording. Like all of KEF's speakers, the Q50a is timbre matched to integrate sonically with your existing KEF speaker. The Q50a is right at home in any home theater setup, and expands on an already extensive line of Atmos-enabled speakers KEF currently has available. Similar to the Q50a is the R50 upward-firing Atmos speakers, as well as a wide variety of custom install Atmos-enabled speakers as the Ci200RR-THX, Ci200QR, Ci160QR, Ci130QR, Ci200ER, Ci160ER, and Ci130ER. At the heart of the evolved Q50a is the Uni-Q driver array. The newest iteration the Q Series Uni-Q driver includes a damped tweeter loading tube providing any extraneous noise from the back of the tweeter, lower treble performance is improved dramatically, and a new low-distortion inductor on the crossover provides cleaner bass.
