Description

The Rubbermaid Commercial J853-00 microfiber blend looped-end dust mop measures 24" wide, has strings of green microfiber yarn sewn to a backing, and can be used with a mop head frame and handle (sold separately) to dust floors. The strings are made of green microfiber yarn for absorbency and resistance to shedding. The ends are looped for durability, allowing the mop head to be laundered. A slot pocket holds the mop head securely to the frame (sold separately). The dust mop measures 24" wide (the horizontal distance from left to right). This product contains 42 percent post-consumer recycled PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and 28 percent post-industrial cotton and can help earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits.

Dust mops (also called dry mops) consist of a mop head, a mop frame, and a handle. A mop head is sometimes tied on to a mop frame with connected strings, or it has a sleeve into which the frame fits. The frame provides support for the shape of the mop head, which consists of dust-collecting yarns and a flexible backing to hold the yarns together and connect to the frame. Dust mop heads have traditionally been made of cotton, and used with an oil- or water-based chemical treatment to improve dust retention. Microfiber mops are made from extremely thin synthetic fibers that are non-abrasive, lint-free, and hold a positive electrostatic charge that attracts and retains dust so that no treatment is needed. The handle is a separate item that connects to the frame. Often the frame or the handle also includes a swivel joint for flexible maneuverability.

Rubbermaid manufactures cleaning, organizing, and material handling products for commercial, medical, and industrial applications. The company, founded in 1933, is headquartered in Huntersville, NC.
